System/Network Administrator

Location: Austin, Texas

System/Network Administrator needed to maintain development and production applications and networks. We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail who can serve as a QA gateway between our development and production environments while maintaining a highly available class of service. The candidate should have excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical information with both technical and non-technical people. If you are experienced with UNIX and networking and are looking for a chance to learn modern telecommunications, this is your opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as QA gateway between development and production environment in the areas of serviceability, stability and security.
  • Monitor and maintain UNIX production systems in a zero-downtime environment.
  • Maintain, modify and deploy UNIX and network systems for development.
  • Interface with NOC operations to handle escalated network and system issues.
  • Maintain standard network services: DNS, NTP, SMTP, samba, IPSEC.
  • Provide Windows support to staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • UNIX system administration experience.
  • Working understanding of computer system security.
  • Working understanding of IP routing and network operations.
  • System scripting with Shell, Perl, Python or equivalent.
  • Understanding of SNMP and other network management protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Windows system administration.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Working understanding of IP routing protocols.
  • Operational experience with commercial routing platform.
  • UNIX system programming in C/C++.
  • Understanding of VoIP telephony protocols: SIP, MGCP, RTP.
